Meet Paula
To help spark your intentional growth and healing, I will work alongside you, so that you feel heard and accepted. Our therapeutic relationship, founded on trust, safety, and a nonjudgmental approach, will emphasize your role as the expert in your own life. I work best with older teens and adults.
As a therapist, I focus on validating your experience, not my reactions. This keeps me present and focused on you because you deserve that. As an older woman, and a mother to eight, I have a lifetime of experience to draw upon while I stay present with you. I recognize and respect diversity, culture, and norms as essential to our colorful world and am dedicated to continuing my growth and learning in these areas.
I use an eclectic approach, but especially talk therapy, cognitive, and behavioral methods. For clients who are open to it, I can incorporate sand trays, miniatures, and art therapy into sessions to enhance your experience. These methods can reveal hidden stories, highlighting the power of play.
I am also qualified to provide EMDR reprocessing, when appropriate, to effectively address issues such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties rooted in adverse childhood or life experiences. Trauma alters our brain and nervous system connections, but science is increasinglyfinding that neuroplasticity allows these pathways to regrow. Shedding unhelpful patterns helps you live more fully in the present.
Let’s chat to see if we can move forward together.
